Nitrates

Nitrates in water can have several implications for both human health and the environment. Some of the implications of nitrates in water include:

  1. Health risks: Elevated levels of nitrates in drinking water can be harmful to human health, particularly for infants and pregnant women. High levels of nitrates can cause methemoglobinemia, a condition in which the blood is unable to carry enough oxygen. This can lead to symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and bluish skin.
  2. Environmental impact: Nitrates in water can contribute to eutrophication, which is the process by which excessive nutrients in a body of water cause an overgrowth of algae and other aquatic plants. This can lead to reduced oxygen levels in the water, which can harm fish and other aquatic life.
  3. Agricultural runoff: Nitrates can enter waterways through agricultural runoff, particularly from the use of nitrogen fertilizers. This can lead to contamination of groundwater and surface water, which can then be harmful to human health and the environment.
  4. Groundwater contamination: Nitrates can seep into groundwater from septic systems, animal waste, and other sources. High levels of nitrates in groundwater can be difficult to remove, and can pose a long-term risk to human health and the environment.
  5. Drinking water quality: The presence of nitrates in drinking water can affect its taste, odor, and appearance. In some cases, water treatment facilities may need to implement additional treatment methods to remove nitrates from the water supply.

Overall, it is important to monitor levels of nitrates in water and take steps to reduce their presence to protect human health and the environment.

My experience with Home Environmental Serices was great. Anderew was very helpful with explaining about my water. Very professional … More and very knowledgeable about the industry. The water treatment system recommended to remove the hard water and chlorines works great, and have had no problems. I no longer have the calcium build up on my fixtures, and my hair feels great. Andrew also brings out my salt for me, being that i am elderly and cannot manage to carry them down. Service is extremely efficient, and highly recommended.

The people who work at Home Environmental Services are very knowledgeable about what they can do for the homeowner. The … More sales rep, receptionists, and the installers were courteous and service oriented. There was an equipment malfunction on a Saturday and the issue was resolved on Monday evening after I got off of work. "You are the customer. We need to work around your schedule to correct it." They were tidy, neat in appearance, and hard working. Explained everything to me.
On the first day of the operation system, the rust, and smell was gone. My dog will drink the tap water. I am no longer buying bottled water. My sinks and toilets are no longer requiring daily rust removal. My softener system used less than 40 lbs of salt in a month. I was using 80 lbs every 2 weeks. I am using 1/4 of all cleaning solutions and cutting back still. My hair is no longer redish and my skin is not dried out from the extra "stuff" in my water. I have removed the extra shower filters, which I was changing every 4 months. The overall savings is great! Knowing my water is not poisoning me with high metals particles and ruining the pipes in my 7 year old house any longer gives me peace of mind. I can call them at any time and the yearly service agreement is great.
Thank you to the staff and owner/operator for their outstanding service. I am a satisfied homeowner.
    Thanks again
    Susan

We have tried to get good water for 8 years. Everyone says we can do it . When it comes to doing it, it’s a little complicated. … More So everyone backed down. This company backed what they promised, right down till the last minute. And I must add some of the most educated and polite employees I have ever had to deal with. Jorge and Tyler were A1 top techs to work with. We do thank this company and there employees from the bottom of our hearts for coming this on all that we were promised . Coming for a very pleased customer. Thank you
